If you have a passion for service, and an interest in bartending work, then it is possible to work as a bartender after having a felony conviction. The requirements for each state will vary from jurisdication to jurisdication. In some states, no license is required while in other states, the licensing is optional based on the employer serving alcohol. So, to get started, first contact a local alcohol and beverage commission in your state and determine if the state requires licensing. If so, take the test and pay the fee for licensing as they often only require that you watch a few hours of videos without any formal education. If, however, your state requires that you have an education in alcohol service and bartending, check with your local community college about programs and grants for felons that may be available so you can attend school.
